Nadezhda Agafonicova’s full “The Incredible Inspector” interview transcript

Nadezhda Agafonicova is an actress that portrayed bandit 1 and Tatyana Vasylyevna in director Alexander Malinin’s film “The Incredible Inspector“. Below is a transcript of her FULL uncut interview, fragments of which were used for marketing material. If you wish to purchase the short film, you can do so via the following Vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/incredibleinspector

Please tell us about the character of Tatyana and her personality.

Interviewer

I think that my character Tatyana… inside she is strong. But when looking at her, she appears weak. Why? Because she is just tired of being strong. Therefore she cries, she gets upset, she complains. But that’s just the person she is.

Nadezhhda

Please tell us about the relationship between Michael and Tatyana. Did they have a good relationship?

Interviewer

I think initially they had a good relationship. Respect, love… Tatyana definitely had love. But because I don’t think she fully understood Michael’s work, they started having some strange interactions, some strange thoughts about one another and, in the end, they left each other.

Nadezhda

There was a scene cut from the film in which Tatyana opens the door and approaches the house. It was cut, it was not in the film, so tell us about this scene, please.

Interviewer

Well, I can’t say definitively here… my opinion. She didn’t manage to open the door. So what can we do? She didn’t open the door, much like in life we don’t always open a certain door. Sometimes we pass it. So she passed it too.

Nadezhda

But please tell us more about what happened in this scene, if you remember.

Interviewer

I don’t remember. So what? I don’t remember it.

Nadezhda

Ok, please tell us more about your second character in the film. The bandit in the blue bandana.

Interviewer

Who’s that supposed to be?

Nadezhda

The bandit in the blue bandana.

Interviewer

Who is that?

Nadezhda

The bandit in the bandana with the glasses and the gun that was attacking the inspector.

Interviewer

What should I say about him?

Nadezhda

Just about this character and how you played him.

Interviewer

I PLAYED him? Ah!!! That one you mean? Bandana, Goodness Gracious, not a bandana, it was a swimming hat!

Nadezhda

Well, my friend thought it was a bandana!

Interviewer

Hahaha! Okay, what can I say about this character? Hahaha! I’d say it’s a fool in a swimming hat that pretended to be a bandit! But I wouldn’t fear this bandit, I’d just mock him and that’s it.

Nadezhda

How did you understand the director’s vision of everyone being in over-the-top costumes and the film’s comedic tone?

Interviewer

You know, in the end, this situation is mysterious to me. I think that it’s for the viewers to be slightly relaxed, instead of fearing some terrifying event. That’s why these bandits looked so unorthodox. Sometimes maybe even goofy. But it was very cool. I especially enjoyed the bandit in the cap… that was just super!

Nadezhda

Please tell us about your memories of the scene where you fight with the Inspector and shoot at him, with him deflecting your bullets.

Interviewer

Well, it’s very interesting and very dynamic. Unusual, but because it’s with a bit of humor, it’s not some horrifying murder mystery, I think it was awesome.

Nadezhda

Please tell us more about the scene where the Inspector’s car explodes and the bandits are shooting at the detective.

Interview

It was a very effective scene, definitely. The car explosion, then the inspector falls out and (shot separately) us bandits shooting at him. We shot the scene on the road. I myself always thought: “I hope a random person doesn’t walk by”. Cause he’d say: “crazy women” and “what are they doing here” and “shouldn’t they be transported to certain places?”
